First Light House wins 3rd place

In a contest that went down to the wire, the Victoria University team who created the Meridian First Light House was awarded 3rd place in the US Department of Energy Solar Decathlon competition, just a few points behind the winner.

The Meridian First Light house ended up with a total of 919 points, in the competition against 19 teams from around the world. LEAP is thrilled to have been involved with the team and the house and to be able to contribute our systems to the house.

Of particular note (which makes us very happy) is the 1st equal and 100/100 points the team received for the Hot Water section. This is a fantastic result and puts our water systems up with the best in the world! LEAP contributed a SOLARGENIUS Solar water heating system, THERMAGENIUS heat pump water heating system, BLAZESTOP fire sprinklers, our plumbing systems and created especially for the house an innovative hot water drying cupboard.

A huge congratulations to the team from NZ - you did us proud!
